Moving To Substack
I’m moving my blog to Substack, mostly for the email distribution list.
I’ve always written primarily to organize my own thoughts. When I made my first post public five years ago (a now-extremely-outdated Tensorflow tutorial), I had a very outward-facing mindset: “maybe some people will find this useful.” But I soon realized that most valuable part of public writing is the feedback I receive: each post is an opportunity to spark a discussion, to let people with different backgrounds and beliefs respond to my ideas, and in doing so debug my thinking.
It was recently pointed out to me that some people in my community were moving off of Twitter and on to other platforms. Since Twitter is more-or-less my only means of sharing and discussing my writing, this means that I’ll be losing the insights of a lot of interesting folks. I considered making accounts on other sites, but after mulling it over, decided that re-posting my essays across various scattered social media communities is not a sustainable path forwards. Instead, I’ve decided to move future writing from my personal blog to this Substack. The hope is that interested readers will subscribe via email, and will discuss in the comments, regardless of their choice of social media platform.
If that describes you, please subscribe, and I hope to see you around!
